For corporate social responsibility - or CSR - includes the integration of ethical concerns within the corporate strategic vision:
Is a demonstration of the will of large, small and medium-sized enterprises to effectively manage the social impact and ethical issues within them and the context in which they operate (the territory).
According to the definition adopted by the Brundtland Commission, established by the United Nations in 1987, sustainable development is what enables economic, environmental and social impact requirements of present generations to be satisfied, without compromising future development.
The following initiatives are to be developed in 2010, and subsequently will be included within the Environmental Sustainability Report 2010.
ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES
ECO OFFICE
It is proposed to adopt a code of behaviour within the company, aimed at improving attention to the environment. ECO initiatives are offered to employees in the form of a guide to the ECOOffice.
In particular it is proposed:
- Upgrading waste collection with the support of all employees
- Purchase and conscious use of eco-friendly stationery
- Guidelines for environmental business purchases made by the Purchasing Dept
- Re-use printed paper
- Use of recycled paper and eco-friendly paper
- Print documents on eco-friendly paper or recycled paper
- Re-use of ethical, ecological packaging
- Conscious use of renewable energy
- Reduction of waste water
ECOBOX, ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PACKAGING
In 2009, during the re-styling of the company image, a new line of packaging was designed for GPS Standard products. On this occasion it was decided to focus on a type of environmentally friendly packaging using only recycled cartons water and water based inks. The packaging in question is called “ECObox” and will be the company’s official packaging.
TELE-CONFERENCE and WEB CONFERENCE
Using conferencing the economic and environmental effects of mobilising people for meetings are removed. It is therefore proposed to spread the use of Skype, which is requested more and more by colleagues, customers, and both Italian and foreign suppliers.
CAR SHARING
Car Sharing is encouraged to reduce car transport among Arnad employees. It is proposed to conduct a survey within the company early this year to see if this type of activity is of interest to employees. If so, it is proposed to appoint an administrator who will be the reference point for the organization of offers of car sharing.
SOCIAL INITIATIVES
DONATION OF 5X1000
The donation of 5x1000 is an act that is very indicative of the company image. This gesture, in fact, is an indication of the human and ethical sensitivity of the company and demonstrates the support of associations and organisations engaged in charitable works.
HUG THERAPY INITIATIVE
Setting up a teddy bear available to all employees to embrace in order to improve the quality of life in the company, providing a positive atmosphere.
CRAL BUSINESS INITIATIVE
It is proposed to establish a works committee (CRAL) in order to offer a useful and recreational service to staff in the company. The aim is to promote, coordinate and implement all the initiatives of a cultural, sporting, recreational, artistic, tourism nature in the promotion of social and cultural partners, all as a factor of aggregation and socialization.
Using the CRAL it is possible to affiliate the company to ASSOCRAL or to UNICRAL-BOX, two sets of agreements with commercial and service activities locally and nationally. With the donation of a free card for each employee, who will be able to use the services and discounts offered.
