SUN emits an infrared light signal sent through the fiber optic cable. At the same time, it analyzes the light received at the end of the protected zone. The transmitted light is properly modulated to prevent blinding the receiver at the end of the fiber optic protection line. SUN continuously analyzes the received light in real-time, and if it is insufficient due to tampering, an alarm is immediately generated. The alarm is signaled through a relay contact (C, NO, NC). Each SUN unit manages up to 800 meters of fiber optic cable, with a maximum of 6 splices to facilitate installation on the panels.

SUN protects solar and photovoltaic panels from removal attempts by linking the panels with a fiber optic cable. The system allows the protection of very large photovoltaic fields, identifying the exact area affected by sabotage. The fiber optic cable has a small diameter, is easy to install on solar panels, does not deteriorate, rust, and has a multi-year lifespan. SUN is a mechanical, non-interceptable, and non-removable system, immune to weather conditions and electromagnetic interference.

The system works by connecting the photovoltaic panels via a fiber optic cable carrying a constant light signal. Any tampering, removal, or sabotage attempt causes a variation or interruption of the signal, which is immediately detected by the system. This instantly generates an alarm and allows rapid identification of the affected area. The multi-mode glass fiber can be connectorized and spliced even with cold connectors, without using a fusion splicer.
